Starred restaurant with manor suites
Inter Scaldes
An old Zeeland name, with a chef from Friesland at the stove.

From our diary
Dining and staying at Inter Scaldes
Jeroen Achtien has roots in Friesland, spent years cooking in Switzerland and is now in Zeeland. According to Michelin you can taste all of that on the plate, which strikes us as reason enough to go. Together with Sanne, who looks after the guests, he arrived in September 2023 from Sens in Vitznau, Switzerland.
They didn't walk into something new. Inter Scaldes was founded in 1968 by Maartje and Kees Boudeling, in a building from 1927, and has been a household name for decades. In 2023 the house was thoroughly refurbished. That's our favourite kind of combination: a place with history and a chef writing his own chapter.
You sleep in one of twelve suites in a separate building beside the restaurant. They belong to Pillows Hotels, which owns the whole place. If you want to come for dinner and then go nowhere at all, few places in Zeeland make it this easy.
Good to know
The suites can only be booked together with a table in the restaurant, so a night without dinner isn't an option.
