Where we dine and sleep in Zeeland
Land in the sea. Zeeland is the province of oysters, lobster and salty sea vegetables, with starred chefs cooking what the Scheldt and the polder provide and rooms that look out over the water.
In Zeeland the book holds four addresses for now. When we come across more that belong here, they go in. If we had to pick one, it would be De Kromme Watergang. If you are coming for a star, try De Kromme Watergang and Inter Scaldes. The next place is still empty: that is the address we are trying next.
Starred restaurant with suites in the polder
Two suites, one family and an awful lot of polder.
Tom Vinke cooks with fish from the Oosterschelde and the North Sea and vegetables from the garden next door. Stay over and you sleep in a workman's cottage from 1910.
Restaurant with rooms by beach and dunes
Sauna after dinner, and a walk to the sea in the morning.
Marcel Meijer and Irma Goedbloed cook what they call Zeeland New Nordic, in a farmhouse built with Scandinavian help. The beach is a five-minute walk away.
Starred restaurant with manor suites
An old Zeeland name, with a chef from Friesland at the stove.
Jeroen and Sanne Achtien swapped Switzerland for this house and gave it a second life. The suites are next door, so after pudding it's only a few steps to bed.
Country inn with regional restaurant

Bart de Bree has been cooking here for twenty-five years, using what Zeeland and Holland have to offer. The kind of country inn you don't come across much any more.
