Restaurant with rooms by beach and dunes
Hof aan Zee
Sauna after dinner, and a walk to the sea in the morning.

From our diary
Dining and staying at Hof aan Zee
Fermenting, drying, smoking. A kitchen that treats the seasons like that always gets our attention. Marcel Meijer and Irma Goedbloed call it Zeeland New Nordic, and the Nordic bit is more than a buzzword. The farmhouse was put up after the war as an emergency farm, built with Scandinavian help, and has been in the family since 1948. The two of them have owned it since 2010.
Vegetables come from their own kitchen garden and from Bioduin, an organic farm they work with. You can sleep in a hotel room, a farm cottage or a wooden cabin, and there's a hot tub and a sauna. The North Sea is about half a kilometre away, Dishoek beach a five-minute walk. We can picture it already: a long evening at the table, a blustery walk before breakfast. If you'd rather have a grand hotel with long corridors, look elsewhere. This is a farm, and it means to feel like one.
Good to know
The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and shuts for three weeks in November.
