Where we dine and sleep in Friesland
Lakes, Wadden islands and a language of its own. Friesland pairs a starred country estate in the Beetsterzwaag woods with small addresses by the harbour, in a greenhouse and out on the islands.
In Friesland the book holds four addresses for now. When we come across more that belong here, they go in. If we had to pick one, it would be Landgoed Lauswolt. If you are coming for a star, try Landgoed Lauswolt. The next place is still empty: that is the address we are trying next.

A stately country house near Beetsterzwaag with two serious kitchens on one estate. This is what we choose when we'd rather not choose between a big night and an easy one.
Harbourside restaurant with rooms
Grandad's café became a restaurant, and we're rather glad it did.
A family-run place on the old harbour at Hindeloopen, with IJsselmeer fish in summer and game in winter. For us it's all about the homemade pâté and the view over the dyke.

A log fire and a whirlpool for two. We're easily persuaded.

Restaurant with boutique hotel on Terschelling
Sleeping beside Terschelling's oldest church is well worth the ferry.
Two men who met at De Librije now cook with whatever the island provides. We want to taste that island menu and sleep in a suite called De Boschplaat.
