Where we dine and sleep in Flevoland
The youngest province, reclaimed from the sea. The choice is small and unpretentious: a tower room above the polder, fresh fish on Urk and a family hotel by the woods. This selection will grow with the province.
In Flevoland the book holds two addresses for now. When we come across more that belong here, they go in. If we had to pick one, it would be 't Voorhuys. The next place is still empty: that is the address we are trying next.
Town hotel with restaurant, grand café and tower rooms
A night in an old water tower in the middle of Emmeloord.
Not a fine dining address, but you can sleep inside the symbol of the Noordoostpolder. We go for the cheerful buzz downstairs and the unusual bed in the tower.
Family-run hotel with restaurant
A family hotel with no airs, and the woods across the road.
Home cooking with produce from the village and a house beer at the bar. We come here when we're not after a tasting menu, just a bed and a good walk.

Not at a starred address yet. But at places we like just as much.
