Where we dine and sleep in Drenthe
Heathland, dolmens and villages around a green. Drenthe is the province of manor houses and country hotels, where the kitchen draws on its own garden and woods and the evening ends by the fire.
In Drenthe the book holds three addresses for now. When we come across more that belong here, they go in. If we had to pick one, it would be Landhuishotel & Restaurant Rikus. The next place is still empty: that is the address we are trying next.

Named after the last farmer on the land. A lovely start.

Mikael Lindqvist cooks with Finnish and Scandinavian influences in Frederiksoord's former post office. You rarely find this kind of cooking in the Netherlands, which is exactly why it's on our list.

For two, count on € 295 at POSTEN Nordic Cuisine up to € 330 at Château De Havixhorst, for dinner, one night and breakfast. Amounts come from their own booking systems, for a weeknight in November 2026.
Not at a starred address yet. But at places we like just as much.
