Dining and staying at Hotel Van Saaze
Sometimes you just want to eat well without anyone explaining the plate. Hotel Van Saaze is the place for that. It has been a family hotel on the Dam in Kraggenburg for more than seventy years, and the kitchen cooks simple, fresh food with whatever local farmers and makers bring in. We have no objection to that whatsoever.
Drinks come with the house beer, Saazer Blond, which is reason enough not to drive home. There are twenty-six rooms. The Voorsterbos is across the road, the harbour is close and the Waterloopbos, with its old hydraulic scale models, is nearby. For us that makes it a weekend with walking boots in the boot rather than a big celebratory dinner. If you want fine dining, look elsewhere. If you want peace and an honest meal, this is just right.
