Country estate hotel with Michelin-starred restaurant and bistro
Landgoed Lauswolt
An estate where you needn't go past the gate all weekend.

From our diary
Dining and staying at Landgoed Lauswolt
Seb Smit cooks at De Heeren van Harinxma on French foundations, with Frisian produce and vegetables from the estate garden. All of this happens in a dining room with high ceilings and marble fireplaces, and in good weather on a terrace overlooking the golf course. Almar Wessels and Vladimir Sarkisyan look after the wine. Michelin recognised this kitchen from 2001 to 2006 and has done so again since 2022. That comeback tells us more than any number of years could. Fancy something lighter on the second night? Then it's a short walk to Bistro Nijeholt on the same estate, open every day.
Lauswolt is big: 59 rooms and suites in the main house and in a wing renovated in 2021, plus a golf course, indoor and outdoor pools and a sauna. It's a different kind of stay from a five-room inn. Less cosy, more space. We like it for a weekend where you don't have to organise a thing.
Good to know
It's a large house with a golf course and pools; if you want a small inn where everyone knows each other, look elsewhere.
