Harbourside restaurant with rooms
De Hinde
Grandad's café became a restaurant, and we're rather glad it did.

From our diary
Dining and staying at De Hinde
We have a soft spot for places where a family simply carries on. Harmen Ligthart turned his grandfather's café on the old harbour at Hindeloopen into a restaurant with rooms, and runs it with Bea Ligthart. The view takes in the dyke, the harbour and the IJsselmeer.
The kitchen follows the year. In summer there's pikeperch, perch and eel from the IJsselmeer, in winter game, with vegetables from their own garden and greenhouse. The homemade pâté is well known locally, and the wine list leans heavily on riesling, which is no hardship as far as we're concerned. You sleep in one of two rooms with their own staircase, with a box-spring bed, a sitting area, air conditioning and a private bathroom. Breakfast is included. It's small and uncomplicated. If you're after a spa and room service, keep driving along the coast.
Good to know
Credit cards aren't accepted and dogs aren't allowed, and with only two rooms it pays to book early.
