Kasteel Steenenburg
Once a theme park, now a castle to sleep in.

From our diary
Dining and staying at Kasteel Steenenburg
Let's be honest: if you're coming purely for the food, other places in this diary will serve you better. If you want a night on an estate with a long story behind it, you're in the right spot.
Steenenburg is first mentioned in 1559. In 1707 it passed by marriage to the d'Oultremont family, Belgian nobility; after a fire in 1795 it was rebuilt in the nineteenth century, and in 1875 Adriaan d'Oultremont had the left wing replaced. Then came a chapter many Dutch people still remember: from 1984 to 2007 this was Marc Taminiau's theme park, Het Land van Ooit.
Since 2021 the estate has been redeveloped into a hotel with a restaurant, a bar and meeting rooms. Rooms range from Deluxe and Twin to Junior and Senior Suites. At Restaurant Orangerie Steenenburg the kitchen is open, so you can watch your dinner being made. Classic flavours, seasonal produce.
Good to know
