Design hotel with restaurant in a historic barracks
Kazerne
Sleeping in a barracks, only with rather good design.

From our diary
Dining and staying at Kazerne
Don't come here for a long tasting menu. We come for something else: the building, and what's been done with it.
The military police barracks dates from 1825. Stables and a coach house were added in 1898, and in 1925 a shed for the council's street cleaners. After a few pop-ups during Dutch Design Week, Annemoon Geurts and Koen Rijnbeek saw more in it than a listed building. The shed opened in October 2014, and the barracks was finished in spring 2019.
That shed is where you eat now, surrounded by the design on show. By day it's called Taste by Day, in the evening Taste at Night, a bar and bistro. You sleep in the barracks itself, in a room, suite or loft. If you love design and buildings with character, this is one of the most enjoyable places to stay in Brabant. If you want a classic dinner with a row of cutlery, you won't agree with us. That's fine.
Good to know
Evenings here mean bar and bistro, so if you're after a full tasting menu, book somewhere else for dinner.
